7 Ways to Influence, The World for Christ

Influence

Influence

Matthew 5:13–16

“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.

No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.

In the same way, let your good works shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Let us pray: Heavenly Father, the entrance of your word gives light.

Thank you for the opportunity to learn at your feet in Jesus Name. Amen

What is Influence?

Influence is the capacity to indirectly affect the behavior of others through persuasion or inspiration of the word of God

Three Dimensions of Influence

  1. Personal – Character and daily conduct
  2. Relational – Family, friends, workplace
  3. Generational – Discipleship and leadership development

How to Influence The World for Christ

1. Live a Godly Life

Philippians 2:15

“Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights

in a world full of crooked and perverse people”.

1 Peter 2:12

Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then, even if they accuse you of wrongdoing, they will see your honorable behavior and give honor to God when he judges the world.

Character is louder than charisma.

Live honorable lives as you mix with unbelievers, even though they accuse

you of being evildoers. For they will see your beautiful works and have a reason

to glorify God on the day he visits us.

Integrity earns a hearing for the gospel.
Let consistency in private match your public witness.

2. Love People Intentionally

John 13:34–35

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other.

Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.

35Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

Influence grows through genuine care.

People are drawn to Christ through love demonstrated.
Listen before speaking. Serve before correcting.

3. Share the Gospel Clearly and Boldly

Romans 1:16

“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ.

It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes,

the Jew first and also the Gentile.

Influence includes proclamation.

4. Use Your Gifts and Platform Strategically

Romans 12:7

“If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well.

8If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is given, give generously.

If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously.

And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly”.

God places you in workplaces, communities, and ministries for a purpose.
View your profession as a mission field.

 5. Demonstrate Courage in Conviction

2 Timothy 1:7

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Influence requires moral clarity.

Compromise weakens influence; courage strengthens it.
Set convictions before cultural pressure arises.

6. Pray for Spiritual Impact

Colossians 4:3–4

“Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak

about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains.

4Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.”

Influence begins in the spiritual realm

Prayer prepares hearts before conversations begin.

 7. Build and Multiply Disciples

2 Timothy 2:2 1Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that

God gives you in Christ Jesus. 2 You have heard me teach things confirmed

by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy

people who will be able to pass them on to others”.

Influence expands through multiplication.

Lasting impact is generational, not momentary.
Invest intentionally in a few who can influence many.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Trying to be culturally relevant without being biblically faithful
  • Speaking truth without love
  • Seeking visibility instead of faithfulness

Declaration

“I am salt and light. Through my character, love, and witness,

I will influence my world for Christ.”

Closing Prayer

Father, use my life to reflect Christ in my generation.

Help me walk in integrity, love deeply, speak boldly, and serve faithfully.

Let my influence bring glory to You and draw many to salvation.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
