Acts 26:27-28
Who Is A Christian?
A Christian is a person who believes in and follows Jesus Christ, not just in name, but in faith, life, and relationship.
Becoming a Christian is not about joining a church or performing rituals
It’s about entering a real relationship with God through Jesus Christ
From salvation to holiness, from worship to service, you are invited into a life that glorifies God and blesses humanity.
Why Are You Called to Be a Christian?
1. You Are Called to the Salvation of Your Soul
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
Man became a living soul or person.
Verses 15-17
“The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. 16But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— 17except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”
The Man died spiritually or was separated from God for the sin of disobedience to His warning.
Adam and Eve never repented of sin; every person born into this world needs salvation and reconciliation with God.
James 1:21
“Receive with meekness the implanted word, which can save your souls.”
You are called to walk out your salvation daily, growing in obedience, renewal of your mind, and Christlike maturity.
Salvation is the foundation of your Christian calling.
God’s primary invitation for you is to receive eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
John 3:16
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life
Salvation is not merely rescue from sin’s penalty, but restoration of the relationship with God and transformation of your inner life.
2. You Are Called to Live a Holy Life
1 Peter 1:14–16
“So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”
Holiness is the evidence of your salvation.
God called you to live separated from sin and devoted to righteousness, reflecting His character in a corrupt world.
You must be holy because I am holy
1 Thessalonians 4:3-7
“God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. 4Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor— 5not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways. 6Never harm or cheat a fellow believer in this matter by violating his wife, for the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before. 7God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives
Hebrews 12:14
Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.
Holiness is not self-righteousness
It is Spirit-empowered obedience.
As you yield to the Holy Spirit, you are progressively conformed to the image of Christ in conduct, speech, and motives.
3. You Are Called to Worship God
John 4:24
“From now on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with a right heart. For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere worshipers who adore him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.”
Worship is your loving response to God’s saving grace.
It is not limited to songs but expressed through a surrendered life that honors God in spirit and truth.
Romans 12:1
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice, the kind he will find acceptable.
This is truly the way to worship him.”
True worship flows from your intimacy with God.
When you understand who God is and what He has done, worship becomes a lifestyle of reverence, gratitude, and obedience.
Hebrews 12: 12-13
“So be made strong even in your weakness by lifting your tired hands in prayer and worship.
And strengthen your weak knees, 13for as you keep walking forward on God’s paths,
all your stumbling ways will be divinely healed!
4. You Are Called to Serve God
1 Peter 4:10
You are gifted and called to participate in God’s work, building His Kingdom through faithful stewardship.
Matthew 25:21
“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!
Serving God is not confined to the pulpit. Whether through ministry, leadership, generosity, or everyday faithfulness, honor God by using your gifts for His glory.
5. You Are Called to Serve Humanity
Ephesians 2:10
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
God’s love compels you to serve others.
Christian service extends beyond the church into society, meeting both spiritual and practical needs.
Mark 12:30-31
“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ 31The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
Matthew 25:40
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
Serving humanity reflects God’s compassion. Through acts of kindness, justice, mercy, and evangelism, you become God’s hands and feet in the world.
When you walk faithfully in your calling, you fulfill God’s purpose and become living testimonies of His transforming power.
1 Thessalonians 5:24
Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. 24God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.
Did you know that becoming a Christian is not about joining a church or performing rituals?
It’s about entering a real relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
The Bible shows a clear path.
How to become a Christian (step-by-step)
1. Recognize your need for God
Every person has sinned and fallen short of God’s standard.
Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
You cannot save yourself by good works or religion.
2. Believe in Jesus Christ
Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for your sins, and rose again.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…”
Faith is the foundation—you trust in what Jesus has done for you.
3. Repent (turn from sin)
Repentance means a sincere decision to turn away from sin and toward God.
Acts 3:19
“Repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.”
It’s not about being perfect—it’s about changing direction.
4. Confess Jesus as Lord
Openly declare that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.
Romans 10:9
If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart… You will be saved.” —
You are surrendering your life to His leadership.
5. Receive Him into your life
Invite Jesus into your heart and life personally.
John 1:12
“To all who received Him… He gave the right to become children of God.”
Salvation is a gift—you receive it, not earn it.
6. Be born again by the Holy Spirit
God gives you a new spiritual life.
John 3:3
“You must be born again.”
This is an inward transformation—God begins to change you from within.
7. Begin a new life following Christ
Now you grow in your relationship with Him:
- Pray regularly
- Read the Bible
- Join a community of believers
- Live in obedience
2 Corinthians 5:17“
If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”
A Simple Prayer (if you’re ready)
You can speak to God sincerely like this:
“Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died for my sins and rose again.
I repent of my sins and turn to You. Come into my life. Be my Lord and Savior.
Thank you for saving me. Amen.”
What Happens Next?
When you truly believe:
- Your sins are forgiven
- You become a child of God
