1. Corinthians 15:3-7
“I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father, the entrance of your word gives light. Thank you for the opportunity to learn at your feet in Jesus Name. Amen
The word Death in the Bible means separation.
God is a Spirit.
John 4:24
For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Man is a spirit, has a soul, but lives in a physical body.
I Thessalonians 5:23
“Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.”
There are three types of death:
(a)Spiritual death refers to separation from God due to sin or disobedience.
Genesis 2:15-17
The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. 16But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— 17except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”
(b)Physical death in the Bible refers to the separation of the soul/spirit from the physical body.
James 2:26
“For just as a human body without the spirit is dead, so faith without the expression of good works is dead!
(c) Eternal death is the final, spiritual separation from God
Matthew 10-28
“Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
2 Thessalonians 1:9
He will bring perfect and full justice to those who don’t know God and to those who refuse to embrace the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9They will suffer the penalty of eternal destruction, banished from the Lord’s presence
Revelation 20:14-15
“Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. 15And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.”
Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

2. Eyewitness Accounts of His Death
John 19:31–35 NLT
“So they asked Pilate to hasten their deaths by ordering that their legs be broken. Then their bodies could be taken down. 32So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the two men crucified with Jesus. 33But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead, so they didn’t break his legs. 34One of the soldiers, however, pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out. 35(This report is from an eyewitness giving an accurate account).”
3. A Roman Officer Confirmed His Death
Mark 15:44–45 (KJV)
“Pilate couldn’t believe that Jesus was already dead, so he called for the Roman officer and asked if he had died yet. 45The officer confirmed that Jesus was dead, so Pilate told Joseph he could have the body
4. A Rich Called Joseph From Arimathea Buried Jesus
Matthew 27:59–60
“As evening approached, Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus, 58went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. And Pilate issued an order to release it to him. 59Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a long sheet of clean linen cloth. 60He placed it in his own new tomb, which had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance and left.”
5. The Tomb Was Found Empty.
Matthew 28:5–6
“Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He isn’t here! He has risen from the dead.”
The tomb was found empty—not spiritually empty, but physically empty.
6. Multiple Eyewitnesses Saw Him Alive
Jesus appeared to many after His resurrection:
1. Corinthians 15:5
He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. 6After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. 7Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles.
7. Physical Evidence of His Resurrected Body
Luke 24:36-40
John 20:27
8. The Apostles Testified Powerfully To His Resurrection
Acts 4:33
“The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all,”
9. David Spoke About His Resurrection
Acts 2:32
10. Fulfillment of Jesus’ Own Words
Matthew 16:21
Jesus predicted His death and resurrection—and fulfilled it exactly.
John 11:25 (KJV)
“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
Conclusion
1 Corinthians 15:14 (KJV)
“And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.”
Revelation 1:17
“When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. 18I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.”
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of Christianity.
Without it, faith collapses.
